Hideshi Sekine is a heavyweight who has fought for Rizin, ONE Championship and Deep. He is also a huge MMA fan and revealed he has been attending the New Year’s Eve events in Japan for around two decades.
Whether it has been put on by K-1 Heroes, Pride, Dream or Rizin the 48 year old says he has been buying a ticket. This year he finally gets to fight on one of these cards himself and the veteran says it is a ‘dream come true’,
“I’m 48 years old and I have been attending every New Year’s Eve event as a paying fan for about 20 years. This is a true dream come true and a grand sum of my fighting career. Watch me put on a show.”
At Rizin 33 he has been matched with Shoma Shibisai, an undefeated heavyweight who is 18 years his junior. ‘Shrek’ is coming off back to back stoppage wins of his own and is just happy to be a part of what has traditionally been the biggest card of the year in Japan.
