Itsuki Hirata suffered the first loss of her career at ONE: ‘X’ on Saturday but the Japanese atomweight was not making excuses. She believes Jihin Radzuan beat her fair and square and questioned how one of the judges could have scored the contest for her:

It is refreshing to hear a fighter being so honest in the aftermath of a defeat. The disappointment for Hirata must have been intense because she had never lost a fight before and was a big favourite against the Malaysian.

But Radzuan, who was more fortunate to get a decision win over Mei Yamaguchi in her previous match, controlled much of the contest on the ground which is where Hirata is most effective. The 22 year old still has a very bright future and can boast a 5-1 record.

But while Hirata lost the fight she won a lot of fans with her blunt and honest reaction. It wasn’t her only critical Tweet of the night either. When the judges announced Amir Khan had beaten Ryogo Takahashi by split decision she responded with a single Japanese word which translated as ‘seriously’?
