Korean flyweight Ji Yeon Kim will be back in action at UFC 234. The 29 year old has been matched with Australia’s Nadia Kassem in Melbourne on October 5th.
Kim (8-2-2) saw a two fight winning steak snapped by Antonina Shevchenko at the TUF 28 Finale last November. She missed weight by more than 5lbs ahead of that bout and has not fought since.
Kassem (5-1) is also coming off a defeat. She was submitted in the second round by Montana De La Rosa at UFC 234 and will be fighting at flyweight for the second time, having moved up from 115lbs.
UFC 234 is set for the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne on October 6th. The venue’s capacity is around 56,000 which could make this the biggest event in promotional history, at least in terms of attendance.
In the main event Robert Whittaker (20-4) defends his middleweight title against interim champion Israel Adesanya (17-0). The former made his name in China before signing with the UFC.
