Jun Yong Park set for UFC Fight Night Shenzhen
Korean middleweight Jun Yong Park has signed with the UFC. He will face Anthony Hernandez in Shenzhen on August 31st according to a report on MMA Junkie.
Park (10-3) fights out of Korean Top Team and has fought in Taiwan, Australia, Guam, Russia, China and Japan. He is the latest in a long line of Korean additions to the roster, possibly in preparation for an event in Seoul later this year.
At UFC Fight Night Shenzhen he faces Hernandez (6-1). The American was submitted in his promotional debut in February after having earned a contract on the back of an impressive performance at Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.
As previously announced Weili Zhang will become the first Chinese fighter to ever challenge for a UFC belt when she faces reigning strawwweight champion Jessica Andrade in Shenzhen on August 31st.
Meanwhile Wu Yanan faces Luana Carolina in a flyweight bout at UFC Fight Night Shenzhen. UFC Fight Night 141 took place in Beijing last November and was headlined by heavyweights Francis Ngannou and Curtis Blaydes.
The promotion’s first event on mainland Chinese soil was UFC Fight Night 122 which took place in Shanghai in 2017.
