Kana can’t stop tweeting about Anissa Meksen! She lost her K-1 flyweight title this month after dropping a decision to Antonia Prifti but it seems like the Japanese star can’t stop thinking about the French fighter.

It turns out that the two of them trained together at Tiger Muay Thai five years ago. Kana shared some of the photos on X, formerly known as Twitter, earlier today along with a message to Meksen that,

“You are the strongest in the world.”

Eye opener

It sounds like training at Tiger Muay Thai was a bit of an eye opener for Kana. She must be remembering sparring with Meksen when she recalls that,

“I was beaten up.”

A young Fabricio Andrade is also visible in the photo which Kana shared, so Meksen might not have been the only fighter there who was able to teach her a few tricks during sparring.

Kana’s stock has fallen since the loss at K-1 Rebirth. Prifti was relatively unknown coming into that fight but was got the nod from all three of the Japanese judges in Tokyo.

Top talent

A fight between her and Meksen was always unlikely to materialize because of the rivalry between K-1 and ONE Championship. The Japanese promotion clearly ruled the kickboxing world at the start of the century.

But in recent years ONE Championship has snapped up most of the top talent in the lighter weights. It will be interesting to see if Kana is watching and tweeting when Meksen fights Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom this Friday.

It will be the French fighter’s first bout in a year and the interim ONE Championship atomweight kickboxing title is on the line. The Thai has been on a tear in 2023 but it sounds like Kana is expecting Meksen to win.

She still hopes to one day face her former training partner. But while the chances of them becoming rivals looks low Kana is clearly a Meksen fan.
