Kotetsu Boku signs for Rizin, set to face Mikuru Asakura
Kotetsu Boku has signed with Rizin. The 42 year old appears to have been released by ONE Championship after losing three in a row but didn’t have to wait long to find a new home.
Boku’s signing was unveiled at Rizin 21 last Saturday. The former ONE Championship lightweight champion looks set to face off against one of the promotion’s biggest stars.
A bout between Boku and Mikuru Asakura is penciled in for Rizin 22. The event is set for the Yokohama Arena on April 19th.
Boku (26-14-2) signed for ONE Championship in 2012 and was handed a title shot in his promotional debut. He became the first man to ever hold the promotion’s lightweight belt.
Asakura (12-1-0-1) is 16 years his junior and riding an eight fight winning streak. He has emerged as one of the biggest stars on the Rizin roster and has a big following on Youtube.
Also in the works for Rizin 22 is a bantamweight title bout. Manel Kape (15-4) looks set to defend his belt against Hiromasa Ogikubo (20-4-2) on April 19th.
