Marl Abelardo will be on action at ONE Friday Fights 15. The experienced bantamweight has been matched with Armenian wrestler Taron Grigoryan at Lumpinee Stadium this Friday night.
Abelardo (20-10) has lost four out of his last five fights. But the 31 year old demonstrated just how dangerous he could be when he knocked out Emilio Urrutia with a tomahawk elbow in 2021.
Abelardo is based long term in Thailand and trains at the Fairtex Camp in Pattaya. He has been a professional mixed martial artist since 2010 and has fought ten times for ONE Championship and ONE Warrior Series.
By contrast Grigoryan (6-1) will be making his professional debut. The Armenian comes from a wrestling background and the sole loss of his career came at UAE Warriors 28 last year.
He claims to be a combat sambo world champion and to have won freestyle wrestling tournaments in Russia and grappling tournaments in Armenia. He will be hoping to have a similar impact to compatriot Marat Grigorian who is the promotion’s featherweight kickboximg champion.

Best of the rest
This will be the only MMA fight on the card. The rest of the bouts will all be three round Muay Thai matches using the small, fingerless gloves with Nakrob Faitrex facing Ploywitthaya Chor Wimolsin in the main event.
Brazilian Yuly Alves will be looking to build on her win at ONE Friday Fights 7. She faces promotional newcomer Kwankhao Por Muangpetch in a strawweight fight.
Also on the card is former child prodigy Sangmanee PKSaenchaigym. He has seen his form slip in recent years but remains one of the biggest names in the sport and has been matched with Fabio Reis in a bantamweight fight.
