Mark Zuckerberg is not convinced that Elon Musk will actually fight him. But the billionaire is very serious about continuing his MMA career and is looking to fight for either the UFC or ONE Championship.

Earlier this week Musk shared some details about the fight between him and Zuckerberg. The business rivals have openly discussed the possibility of facing one another in an MMA fight and have even started to train for it.

Musk made it sound like a deal had been done for the fight to take place in Italy. But in a post on his newly launched Threads platform Zuckerberg made it clear that negotiations had not even begun,

“I love this sport and I’ve been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me. If he ever agrees on an actual date, you’ll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on.”

Breakdown in communications

There seems to have been a breakdown in communication between the two men, who are both rivals in the business world. Musk has been posting regularly on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter which he owns.

Musk made it sound like the fight was a done deal and even shared details surrounding the location and broadcast deal,

“The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC). Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all.”

Professional organizations

Zuckerberg has yet to make his MMA debut although he has been competing in BJJ competitions. He made it clear that he does plan to compete in the sport with or without Musk and has two promotions in mind.

He contradicted his rival tech entrepeneur by stating that he would need to with an organization like the UFC or ONE Championship,

When I compete, I want to do it in a way that puts a spotlight on the elite athletes at the top of the game. You do that by working with professional orgs like the UFC or ONE to pull this off well and create a great card.

It seems to be a matter of when, not if, Zuckerberg finally does make his MMA debut. The Meta CEO doesn’t sound like he is going to start out by competing at small regional events either.

Zuckerberg clearly has something big in mind. The 39 year old wants to fight for one of the world’s biggest MMA promotions and, given his status and wealth, they will probably be more than happy to promote his debut.
