Miesha Tate will be back in action at UFC Vegas 40. The former ONE Championship executive recently returned to competitive action after a five year absence.

‘Cup Cake’ looked like she had never been away, finishing Marion Reneau in the third round. The 35 year old hasn’t just had a change of career since leaving the UFC in 2016, she has also given birth two two children.

But Tate’s ability to make a successful return after such a long absence will be inspiring to other women planning to make a comeback after giving birth, like reigning ONE Championship atomweight champion Angela Lee. She has already broken into the top ten at 135lbs.

She is ranked #8 and victory over #7 ranked Ketlen Vieira on October 16th would put her within touching distance of a title shot. Tate last held the title in 2016 but lost the belt to Amanda Nunes at UFC 200, she has also been in with the likes of Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey.

Tate (19-7) has fought on some of the UFC’s biggest cards. The former Strikeforce bantamweight champion was a big draw back in the day and will be looking to get back onto some of the promotion’s pay per view events.

Vieira (11-2) has lost to out of her last three and this will be the biggest fight of the Brazilian’s career so far. The card also features a light heavyweight bout pitting Da Un Jung against Kennedy Nzechukwu.
