Welterweight champion John Adajar has an opponent at URCC 77. He is slated to face Miguel Mosquera in one of two title fights booked for Cove Manila on April 27th.
Mosquera (4-2) is coming off back to back first round stoppage wins at Tiger Black Brawl 2019 and URCC Bets VIII, and has plenty of respect for the champion,
“John Adajar is a great champion, very versatile and well-rounded. You can’t take him lightly (but) I think I’m a well-rounded fighter as well, with a never say die attitude. He is the champion for a reason but I will do everything and anything I can to take that belt.”
Adajar (5-1) will be making the first defence of his title he won by beating Afonso Celso last year. Coincidentally Mosquera is also coming off a stoppage win against the same opponent.
The champion has been training for this fight at the Fairtex Gym in Pattaya and believes this two month training camp will give him the edge over Mosquera,
“I want to learn from the best in the world and Thailand is the birthplace of Muay Thai. Also I am training with Professor Bruno Carvalho, who is world renowned for his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has coached the likes of Amanda Nuñes and Alistair Overeem among others.”
The card will also feature former URCC 125lbs champion Geli Bulaong (2-1). She will be looking to rebound from a recent defeat which cost her that title and goes up against Korea’s Hyun Ji Jang (3-1).
As previously announced Chris Hofmann (7-1) will be making the fourth defence of his middleweight title against Musa Conteh (2-3).
