After 4:13 of the second round Mizuki Furuse’s corner decided to step in and save their fighter from further punishment at Deep-Jewels 34 today. Mizuki Oshiro was doing damage from mount and they decided enough was enough and threw in the towel.
The atomweight fight between the two Mizuki’s headlined the card. While they both share a first name their career paths have been different with Furuse earning a Rizin deal last year after four straight wins.
By contrast Oshiro came into this contest having lost three times in the last year. But it was the older fighter who prevailed with Furuse consistently finding herself second best on the ground.
Comfort zone
It was Furuse who seemed eager to get the fight down but Oshiro appeared to be very much in her comfort zone there. In the first round she came close with a couple of armbar attempts after being tossed to the floor and landed some ground and pound in the closing stages.
Furuse looked for a takedown at the start of the second but once again Oshiro demonstrated how dangerous she can be on her back. She was able to reverse and this time the 25 year old showed no mercy from top position.
There was no escape for Furuse who was just covering up and hoping to hear the bell when her corner stepped in to save her. Oshiro improves to 3-4 while her opponent drops to 7-8
