Moises Lois Ilogon needed a few rounds to really get into the swing of things at ONE Friday Fights 39. There was nothing to choose between him and Cho Joon-Gun until a kick from the Filipino changed the course of the entire strawweight fight.
With around three minutes remaining in the final round at Lumpinee Stadium he threw a left switch kick as Cho moved forwards. His knee connected cleanly with the liver of the Korean teenager who was never going to recover.
Cho immediately winced in agony and took a step backwards. This was the signal for Ilogon to come on strong and show the sort of aggression fans had been waiting nearly 15 minutes to see.
He swarmed all over Cho with the referee giving the 17 year old every chance to recover. The Korean couldn’t do that and turned his head away with Herb Dean stepping in to stop the fight at the 2:17 mark.
Ilogon was fighting for the first time since 2018 and it took him a while to get going but that left switch kick proved to be the decisive blow. He moves up to 3-0 while his opponent drops to 3-3-1.

The other MMA fight on the card featured two experienced lightweights. Russia’s Kurbanali Isabekov was stepping into the Lumpinee Stadium ring for the first time while Lucas Gabriel was coming off a decision win at ONE Friday Fights 15.
The Brazilian holds a BJJ black belt but also has kickboxing experience. He was able to consistently get the better of the striking exchanges, landing some hard shots to the head of the Russian.
The Tiger Muay Thai representative also looked very comfortable in the clinch and landed some solid looking knees to the midsection. It was enough to convince all three judges to score the fight in his favour and he moves up to 8-1 while Isabekov drops to 9-2.
