A typhoon is set to hit Tokyo tomorrow leading to the cancellation of several sporting events, including some Rugby World Cup group games. But the historic ONE: ‘Century’ card will go ahead as planned.

ONE Championship confirmed this evening that both events would definitely go ahead:

ONE Championship™ (ONE), has announced that both Part I and Part II of ONE: CENTURY 世紀, happening this Sunday, 13 October at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan are to proceed as scheduled. However, we do advise the general public to take extra caution, especially those who will make the journey to the stadium. The health and safety of our athletes, staff and fans remain our top priority and will not be compromised. Ticket holders who are unable to attend Part I of our event due to inclement weather and transportation challenges will be granted a complete refund. We at ONE Championship thank everyone for the support.

Sunday will be the biggest day in ONE Championship’s history. The morning card is set to be televised live by TNT in the U.S. and will feature the likes of Demetrious Johnson, Angela Lee and Christian Lee.

The afternoon card is headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Aung La Nsang and Brandon Vera. Meanwhile Giorgio Petrosyan faces Samy Sana in the finals of the Featherweight Kickboxing Grand Prix with $1million USD in prize money on the line for the winner.

Also competing on October 31st will be Bibiano Fernandes, Xiong Jing Nan, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Shinya Aoki, Mei Yamaguchi, Saygid Arslanaliev and Danny Kingad.

It would have been a huge blow to ONE Championship if this event had been cancelled or postponed. So fighters, fans and everyone involved in putting together this epic day of fighting will be relieved to hear that the show will go on.
