Adrian Lee has become the fourth member of his family to sign a ONE Championship contract. The teenager looks set to compete in the promotion’s lightweight division.

The Lee family story has been one of triumph and tragedy. Christian Lee holds the ONE Championship lightweight and welterweight titles while Angela Lee retired as the reigning atomweight champion recently.

Last December Victoria Lee, who like her sister competed in ONE Championship’s atomweight division, committed suicide. Since her death Adrian Lee is the only family member who has competed, successfully defending an amateur title in Hawaii recently.

Next champion

Lee’s next fight will be on a ONE Championship card. In February he won the 160lbs Hawaii State Wrestling Championships and the teenager has already started collecting silverware.

His brother, Christian Lee, was among the first to welcome him to the ONE Championship fold. He has not competed at all in 2023 but is set to return next year to defend one of his two titles.

We don’t know if Lee will be competing at lightweight or welterweight as he holds belts in both divisions. The Hawaiian is tipping his younger brother to eventually win the former title,

“I’m so proud to welcome my bro to ONE Championship. The next ONE lightweight world champion!”

Valuable guidance

His older brother will be able to offer the teenager some valuable guidance as he embarks on his career as a professional mixed martial artist. His older sister might also be help him deal with some of the pressure and expectation that comes with competing on a global stage.

Angela Lee has now retired from MMA to focus on her non profit organization called Fightstory. She admitted that a car crash that saw a 2017 fight cancelled was actually a suicide attempt.

The former ONE Championship atomweight champion is now dedicating her life to helping people in the martial arts industry with their mental health. She will surely have some advice to offer her younger brother as he sets out on a journey that she knows all too well.
