ONE Championship held a press conference in Los Angeles this morning to promote a new series of Amazon Prime events. There are now five fight cards on the schedule which gets underway next month.

Notable by his absence was ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong who has Covid-19. But stars such as Eddie Alvarez, Demetrious Johnson and Angela Lee were all in attendance at the press conference.

In Chatri’s absence Rich Franklin serves as the promotion’s spokesman. He declared that ONE Championship is looking to hold events in the US next year but the first five Amazon Prime cards will all take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium:

Flyweight rematch

Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes faced off ahead of their rematch which is set for August 27th (local time) at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The show will be broadcast live on US Friday night prime time by Amazon Prime meaning that viewers in Asia will see it live on Saturday morning.

Franklin said he was excited about the rematch,

“This will be the matchup between these two gentlemen. I’m definitely looking forward to this, and I’m definitely looking forward to the events that we are going to continue delivering throughout this year.”

The first fight between Johnson and Moraes was broadcast live on TNT in the US. It also took place in Singapore on a Saturday morning and the Brazilian won by second round stoppage in what was seen at the time as a major upset.
