ONE Championship finally has a US broadcast deal. Ariel Helwani, who interviewed Chatri Sityodtong on his show recently, wrote in an ESPN column that the promotion had signed a three year deal with Turner Sports.
Turner Sports linear platforms include TNT and AT&T and the company holds the broadcast rights to the MLB, NBA and UCL. According to Helwani the deal will see every single ONE Championship event streamed live online,
‘The deal, which goes into effect on Jan. 1, calls for 24 events to air live on B/R Live, Turner’s digital platform’
There will also be replays and related programming on the TNT channel according to Helwani, while a reality TV show is in the works. He also shed some light on when we can expect to see Sage Northcutt, Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez make their promotional debuts.
Northcutt is expected to compete at ONE: ‘Call To Greatness’ at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on February 17th, Johnson is penciled in for ONE: ‘A New Awakening’ at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo on March 31st while Eddie Alvarez is expected to feature on either the former or the latter, according to Helwani.
There are currently 24 events on the ONE Championship calendar for 2019. First up is ONE: ‘Eternal Glory’ which is set for Jakarta on January 19th and will be headlined by a strawweight title rematch between challenger Hayato Suzuki and champion Joshua Pacio.
