Oscar de la Hoya has tested positive for Covid-19. The multiple time boxing world champion was scheduled to face Vitor Belfort on September 11th.

‘The Golden Boy’ announced on Instagram that he had managed to contract Covid-19 despite being vaccinated:

But the show must go and Belfort has a new opponent apparently. It is being reported that Evander Holyfield is stepping in to face the Pride veteran.

During his career de la Hoya never weighed in at more than 154lbs and has the majority of his success competing at 135 to 146lbs. By contrast Holyfield weighed more than 200lbs during his prime which seems like quite a big difference!

Then again Holyfield is ten years older than de la Hoya which might compensate for the disparity in size. The former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world has not fought since 2011.
