Pancrase 313 and 314 were both cancelled last week. However there was some good news today for the fighters booked to appear on those cards.
Pancrase is giving every fighter on the ‘main card’ a 30,000 yen ($280 USD) ‘corona allowance’. As usual the promotion took to Twitter to announce the news:
「コロナ手当」1選手3万円支給へ、自粛延期で選手をサポート
総合格闘技パンクラス、新型コロナウィルスの影響で3月大会・4月大会自粛延期に伴い、メインカード参戦予定だった全ての選手に3万円のコロナ手当を支給することを決定いたしました。#パンクラス #新型コロナウイルス pic.twitter.com/yJ9oXboPoa— PANCRASE|パンクラス (@_PANCRASE_) March 30, 2020
Among the fighters booked to appear next month were Mitsuhisa Sunabe and Adam Antolin who were set to face off for the interim strawweight title. Meanwhile Genpei Hayashi was set to take on Tatsuya Saika with the interim lightweight title at stake.
Other bouts nixed include a featherweight affair which pits Issei Tamura against Suguru Nii. The money will come as scant consolation to the former who is a UFC veteran and would have earned around $14,000 USD for a win during his heyday.
It will be interesting to see whether the interim title fights push ahead as injured champions Salimkhan Sadulloev and Daichi Kitakata will both have additional time to recover. However Pancrase 315 is still scheduled for May 31st.
There are five fights currently on that card. Ryuichi Miki faces Yusuke Ogikubo in the flyweight division while lightweights Kosuke Kindaichi and Sung Kwon Kim face off.
