Christian Lee thought he had done enough to beat Ok Rae Yoon the first time they fought. He made a much more persuasive argument at ONE 160 tonight, stopping the Korean with knees in the second round of a totally one sided fight.

Lee came out swinging and landed several solid low kicks. Yoon’s counters became further and fewer between as the round progressed with the Hawaiian dropping the champion with a right hand.

Yoon survived but was dropped with another right hand. Lee couldn’t find the first round finish but it was one way traffic with the champion unable to gain any sort of foothold in the fight.

Right hand

In the second stanza Lee continued to push the pace. Another right hand dropped Yoon and this time the former champion followed up with a barrage of knees to the head of his grounded opponent.

The finish came at the mark and afterwards Lee was rewarded with a $50,000 USD bonus for his efforts. He becomes the two time featherweight champion and improves to 17-4 while Yoon drops to 16-4.

Low kicks

In the co-main event Tang Kai punished the legs of Thanh Le with low kicks. The champion was looking to put together punching combinations but nothing landed cleanly as his opponent continually chopped away at his legs.

There was a lot of trash talk from the Chinese fighter in the buildup. But once the contest started he was patient and picked his moments to land the leg kicks and get out without taking any punishment.

The fight never produced the type of action that many had anticipated. But that won’t bother Kai who becomes the first Chinese man to ever win a title with the promotion.

Changing hands

In the fourth round Kai dropped Le with a left hand and the newly crowned BJJ black belt instantly shot for a takedown. The two men soon found themselves back on their feet where they want toe to toe until the champion shot for another takedown.

Once again Kai popped straight back up and there was a lull in the action. The pace had clearly taken its toll on the 36 year old who must have known he needed a knockout in the fourth round if the belt was not to change hands.

He couldn’t find it and Kai was crowned the featherweight champion with a decision that that improves his record to 14-2 while extending his winning streak to ten. Le loses for the first time since signing for the promotion in 2019 and drops to 14-3.

Best of the rest

Keanu Subba (9-5) needed less than four minutes to finish Amir Khan (14-9). Their featherweight fight had been a few years in the making but the Malaysian finished it fast with a right hand in the opening round stunning the Singaporean who never recovered.
