Satoshi Yamasu will be putting his featherweight title on the line in the main event of Deep 97. The 30 year old makes the second defence of his belt against Juntaro Ushiku at the Korakuen Hall on August 23rd.
Yamasu (11-4) won the title at Deep 86 in 2018, defeating Takahiro Ashida by decision. He went on to successfully defend the belt by stopping Daiki Hata at Deep 89 last year.
Ushiku (17-7-1) is riding a five fight winning streak. He is five years younger than the champion and coming off a stoppage win over Harry Stallone at Deep 93.
The card will also feature a flyweight contest. ONE Championship veteran Kosuke Suzuki has been matched with former boxer Yamato Fujita.
Suzuki (14-11-3) is coming off a submission win over Chikara Shimabukuro at Deep 92. Fujita (4-3) beat the exact same opponent by decision at Deep 94 in his most recent fight.
This will be the first Deep card since the Covid-19 pandemic sent Japan into lockdown. Limited tickets are available and precautions will be in place to prevent the spread of the virus.
