Seo Hee Ham has held the Road FC atomweight title, the Rizin super atomweight title and the Deep-Jewels atomweight title. But you have to go back 17 years to discover the source of the Korean’s first belt.

In a nostalgic Instagram post she recalls winning a sanda title 17 years ago while she was still a high school student:

First title

Ham even knows the exact date she won her first ever belt. It was October 2nd, 2005 and at the time no-one could have known that it would be the first of many for the young martial artist.

The 35 year old is currently riding an eight fight winning streak. Next up for Ham will surely be an atomweight title shot against reigning ONE Championship queen Angela Lee.

We don’t have a date for that fight yet and there is always the possibility that Lee will move up in weight to challenge for the strawweight title. But after back to back decision wins over Denice Zamboanga she is the #2 ranked contender and looks to be next in line.

The first win over Zamboanga was extremely controversial with the Filipina appearing to have done enough to win the fight. But Ham left no room for doubt in the rematch, claiming a much more convincing victory.

Next in line

The only fighter currently above her in the rankings, other than the champion, is Stamp Fairtex. The Thai was submitted in the second round by Lee and it is unlikely she will be handed an immediate rematch.

Soo Chul Kim has held bantamweight belts with both ONE Championship and Road FC. But no fighter in history has ever won titles with ONE Championship and Rizin.

Ham was unfortunate to get released by the UFC after two very debatable decision losses. Since then she has been on a tear beating the likes of Mina Kurobe, Jinh Yu Frey, Miyuu Yamamoto and Ayaka Hamasaki as well as Zamboanga.

Ham is currently riding an eight fight winning streak. She has certainly come a long way since winning that first sanda title at the age of 18 and would love to add a ONE Championship title to the collection she started way back in 2005.
