Shinya Aoki will make the first defence of the lightweight title he reclaimed last weekend at ONE: ‘Enter the Dragon’ next month. The Japanese veteran is set to face Christian Lee, who is moving up in weight to challenge for the title.
It represents a quick turnaround for Aoki (43-8-0-1) who won the title by beating Eduard Folayang at ONE: ‘A New Era’. This will be a huge challenge for Lee (11-3) who has spent his entire career competing in the featherweight division.
The event is set for the Singapore Indoor Stadium on May 17th and will also feature the quarter finals of the Featherweight Kickboxing Grand Prix. CEO Chatri Sityodtong shared the lineup on Facebook:
The eight fighters competing in the Featherweight Kickboxing Grand Prix are Giorgio Petrosyan, Yodsaenklai Fairtex, Samy Sana, Jo Nattawut, Dzhabar Askerov, Andy Souwer, Enriko Kehl and Petchmorrakot Petchyindee.
The event will also feature the first semi final of the Lightweight Grand Prix with Saygid Arslanaliev taking on Ariel Sexton for a spot in the final.
As previously announced the event will also feature the debut of Sage Northcutt. He faces Cosmo Alexandre in a welterweight matchup.
