A flyweight fight has been added to the Deep 100 card. It pits a fighter who made her promotional debut in 2008 against an opponent who only came on to the scene in 2019.
Shizuka Sugiyama (19-6-0-1) will have a big advantage in terms of experience when she faces Aoi Kuriyama (2-1) at the TDC Hall in Tokyo on February 21st. The former has been fighting for Japanese promotions like Rizin, Deep and Jewels for 12 years.
Sugiyama is riding a three fight winning streak and is coming off a win over Mika Arai at Deep-Jewels 29. She has only lost twice in the last seven years and both those defeats came at the hands of Kana Watanabe on Rizin cards.
Kuriyama made her pro debut in 2009. All three of her fights have been the distance and she is coming off a decision win over Yuko Oya at Deep-Jewels 30.
Headlining this historic card is a lightweight bout between Satoka Kitaoka and Juri Ohara. The event is set for TDC Hall on February 21st and will serve as a celebration of the promotion’s 20th anniversary.
In the bantamweight division Yuki Motoya meets Shoji Maruyama, Shunsuke Miyabi takes on Hiroya and Kosuke Terashima faces Shuhei Higashi. Also added to the card this week was an openweight bout pitting Hideki Sekine against Seigo Mizuguchi.
The event will take place in front of a limited live audience although restrictions could get tighter if the Covid-19 situation in Japan continues to deteriorate.
