Matrix Fight Night had its second event in the fight capital of India. It was a night that started and ended with the underdogs pulling off the upset.

MFN 2 took place on Saturday evening in New Delhi and was headlined by a welterweight clash between Jason Solomon and Srikant Sekhar. The manufactured grudge match kicked off with mean faces and a no touch of gloves.

Solomon ran forward to engage and launched into the air with a flying knee that missed terribly, unfortunately that was the only type of offense he had. Shortly thereafter, while initiating first with kicks to the legs, Sekhar nailed his opponent in the groin.

Swinging wildly

When they got back to action after a short break, Sekhar became overly aggressive, swinging wildly  only to fall forward on his face. The self styled ‘Delhi Don’ took the back during a scramble but his opponent did a tremendous job tying up the hands to stay out of trouble.

He switched grips and locked up a kimura, rolled over and cranked until Solomon tapped. The finish over arguably the most notable fighter in Indian MMA makes it three straight in a row for Sekhar (5-4-0-1) while Solomon (8-2) loses for the first time since 2015 and halts a four fight winning streak.

Successful comeback

Being away from mixed martial arts competition for more than two years had no effect on Mukesh Gora. In the curtain jerker, he had no problem pulling the trigger and taking out the favorite Seth Rosario in 14 seconds.

Once the bell rang to start the contest, Rosario aggressively pushed forward with his chin up and Gora planted a perfect right counter. The American collapsed to the ground and tried to defend but Gora slide around the legs and pounded down some heavy hammer fists.

Even though Rosario was able to roll over and stand back up, he was immediately met with another right hand and flatlined. Gora moves his record to 7-4 and instantly becomes a contender in the welterweight division while his opponent drops to 4-3.

Afterwards, Gora expressed interest in a rematch with Jason Solomon. They faced off in the early days of Super Fight League with the latter coming away victorious.
