Jihin Radzuan recently declared that she was not too impressed by Stamp Fairtex’s striking game. But the Thai fighter definitely does not see things that way and is planning on knocking her opponent out and earning a performance bonus this weekend,

“Muay Thai is my strength and what I can do best. If possible, I want to knock her out because I expect a bonus this time.”

Stamp has succeeded in just about every respect during her ONE Championship career. She has won the atomweight Muay Thai title, the atomweight kickboxing title and the atomweight MMA Grand Prix.

Bonus hunting

But she has never picked up a $50,000 USD performance bonus, despite the regularity with which Chatri Sityodtong has been handing them out in recent months. The 24 year old knows that if she wants that to change she needs to keep this fight standing,

“I will defend her takedowns and always try to stay in the middle of the cage, avoiding my back touching the circle call,” she said.

The reasons for this are simple. Stamp believes that her striking is superior to her opponents and knows she needs to avoid getting taken down in order to showcase it,

“Jihin’s strengths are her wrestling and ground game. She is quite good at striking, but I think this is her weakness as well, because if we trade with each other, I believe I have more experience in striking than her.”

Body kicks

But it sounds like she has studied Radzun’s game extensively ahead of their fight at ONE on Prime Video 2. Stamp knows she will need to be careful if she wants to avoid getting taken down when she tries to land her trademark body kicks,

“I intend to utilize my sharp and swift weapons like elbows and knees rather than kicks because I’ve seen that she likes to catch her opponents’ legs. I will kick less and use heavier and sharper weapons to stun her, and she won’t be able to put pressure on me.”

Stamp is coming off a second round submission loss to Angele Lee in an atomweight title fight. The champion is moving up to strawweight to challenge Xiong Jing Nan this Saturday.

Title rematch

It might be a while before Lee defends her atomweight belt but Stamp is determined to secure a spot as the challenger,

“Victory means a lot to me in this fight. If she beats me, she may take away the #1 position from me. Of course, I won’t let her do that. I’ve been training so hard to maintain my #1 position so that I could challenge Angela Lee again.”

Since the loss to Lee she has been awarded a purple belt in BJJ. Stamp thinks she has made the necessary improvements and has a chance to beat the champion in a rematch,

“If I can fight with Angela Lee again, I think I have a chance to beat her. I’ll do everything to improve myself and fix my weaknesses.”
