ONE Friday Fights 47 has been confirmed for January 12th. It will be the promotionโ€™s first event of the year and a catchweight contest pitting Suakim PKSaenchaigym against Alexey Balyko has been confirmed for the card.

Last year Suakim begged ONE Championship to sign him. These pleas were answered and the three division Lumpinee Stadium champion made his comeback after a four year absence.

Things did not get off to a good start for Suakim who was stopped by Kirill Khomutov at ONE Friday Fights 26 in July.ย  The 28 year old was given a second chance and he grabbed it with bot hands.

At ONE Friday Fights 34 in September he stopped Saman Ashouri in the opening round. It was his first win since 2019 and he picked up a $20,000 USD performance bonus for his efforts.

Similar impact

Suakim has already been in with the likes of Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Superlek Kiatmoo9 during his days fighting on the stadium scene in Bangkok. He is the same age as the latter and will be looking to have a similar impact with ONE Championship.

Balyko burst onto the scene by beating Yod-IQ PKSaenchaigym in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 33. The Russian will be facing another top Thai opponent at Lumpinee Stadium next month.

Weekly shows

Last year there were 46 ONE Championship fight cards held at Lumpinee Stadium on a Friday night with the inaugural event taking place on January 20th. The weekly shows look set to return in January after a three week break over the new year holidays.

Lumpinee Stadium played host to the vast majority of ONE Championship events in 2023. Next year that looks set to change with shows already confirmed in Singapore, Tokyo and Qatar as well as Bangkok.
