The Rizin 23 card is complete with nine bouts. K-1 star Taiga Kawabe will be looking to turn his career around with a win over karate star Kento Haraguchi who he rematches in Yokohama on August 10th.
Taiga has only won one of his five Rizin fights. It represents a disappointing run of results for the 23 year old who has reached the final of three K-1 Grand Prix tournaments.
The two men fought to a draw at Rizin 13 in 2018. Since then Haraguchi has been on good form, winning seven fights in a row to set up this bantamweight rematch.
The other kickboxing bout added to the card is a catchweight contest that pits Koji Mori against Shintao Matsukura. The former is better known as a mixed martial artist and once held the Zst featherweight title.
Matsukura appeared at Rizin 12, scoring an impressive KO win over Takahiro Okuyama. He is one of the top 154lbers on the Rise roster and has a big advantage in terms of experience heading into this catchweight contest.
As previously announced Rizin 23 will be headlined by a bantamweight title fight between Kai Asakura and Hiromasa Ogikubo. The card will also feature a 135lbs bout pitting Yuki Motoya against Mamoru Uoi.
The event will take place at the brand new Pia Arena in Yokohama. The 10,000 capacity arena only opened this year but there will be a limit of 5,000 fans.
Rizin 22 is set for the same venue on the previous day.
