Tang Kai is riding a nine fight winning streak that includes six victories inside the ONE Championship cage. He is the #1 featherweight contender and has a message for the reigning champion.

Blunt but clear
Le is turning 37 this year although plenty of fighters have held MMA titles until well into their 40s. Kai, who appears to be learning English, had a message for the reigning featherweight champion that was blunt but clear:
“Hey Thanh Le now I’m number one. I see the video you look very old I will kill you just first round. Let’s go!”
Kai even had the updated ONE Championship rankings in his phone to emphasize the point. He appears to be training at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket to prepare for what he hopes will be a featherweight title shot.
First round finishes
Tang stopped Jae Woong Kim in the first round at ONE: ‘X’ recently. Le also won on that card, finishing Garry Tonon in under a minute although it wasn’t enough to impress the #1 ranked Chinese contender.
There is no question that Kai has earned a crack at the belt. Six wins with ONE Championship is normally more than enough to so secure a title shot. With both men having been in action as recently as last month that fight might take a few months to make.
There is also the possibility of Le moving up a division to challenge lightweight champion Ok Rae Yoon. But Christian Lee looks next in line to do that so a featherweight fight between the champion and the #1 contender seems like the match to make.
