Fans disappointed that Tenshin Nasukawa won’t be participating in an actual fight on New Year’s Eve will be happy to here he has his first match of 2019 booked. The 20 year old will be one of eight kickboxers participating in a 58kgs Grand Prix at Rise World Series.

The event is set for the Ota City General Gymnasium on March 10th and will feature the quarter finals of two tournaments, with one set for 58kgs and the other 61kgs. Each round will take place at a separate Rise event and the eventual winners will receive 1 million JPY.

The full line ups have yet to be released but Tenshin already knows the identity of three of the other participants in the 58kgs tournament. They are Suakim PKSaenchaigym, Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Shiro.

Tenshin already holds wins over both Thai fighters and won the promotion’s 57kgs tournament last year. He is the reigning Rise featherweight champion but won’t be putting that title on the line during this competition.

The lineup for the 61kgs tournament remains more of a mystery with Taiga Kawabe the only fighter to be announced so far. March 10th looks set to be a busy day for Japanese fighters with a K1 card also booked for the Saitama Super Arena.
