ONE 160 is set for the Singapore Indoor Stadium on August 26th. The main event will be a featherweight title fight with champion Thanh Le defending his belt against challenger Tang Kai.

Le (13-2) has won five fights out of five since signing for ONE Championship with every single victory coming inside the distance. He will be making the second defence of the featherweight title he won in 2020.

The champion is coming off a very impressive first round win over Garry Tonon at ONE: ‘Lights Out’. He needed less than a minute to defeat the previously unbeaten BJJ black belt.

Top ranked

Kai (14-2) is the #1 ranked contender. The Chinese fighter is riding a nine fight winning streak that includes six victories for ONE Championship. He is currently based at Tiger Muay Thai and earned his title shot after knocking out Jae Woong Kim.

Le says he is excited to face the #1 ranked Chinese fighter,

“I’m super excited to face one of China’s best fighters. Another main event, another tough and skilled opponent. He’s got great feet, he’s quick, powerful. He’s knocked a few people out.”

Meanwhile Kai sounds extremely confident,

“I’ve been dreaming of this for a long time. I’ve got 100% confidence for this upcoming fight. I respect him [Le] a lot, but he’s also 36 years old, and I think he should really be considering retirement. I think this could be his retirement fight, maybe. He has a beautiful family. After this one, he should go back to them and have a normal life.”

Double header

The event will be part of a double header with another card taking place in the same venue approximately 12 hours later. ONE 161 is booked for the Singapore Indoor Stadium on August 27th (local time).

That event will be broadcast live on Amazon Prime in North America. The card looks set to be headlined by the rematch between Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson with the former defending his flyweight title.
