UFC veteran Teruto Ishihara to compete at Shooto 0131
Teruto Ishihara will be on the Shooto 0131 card. The 29 year old has been released from the UFC after a three fight losing skid and will return to the promotion where he made his pro debut.
Ishihara (10-7-2) was last seen in action at UFC 234 where he was submitted in the opening round by Kyung Ho Kang. He was the joint winner of TUF Japan in 2015 and fought nine times for the promotion.
The identity of his opponent for the event on January 31st has not been revealed. Ishihara began his career with Shooto winning five fights out of seven between 2011 and 2012.
As previously announced Shooto 0131 is set for New Pier Hall in Tokyo. It features a fight between Taison Naito and Keisuke Sasu which will have the Shooto Pacific Rim featherweight title on the line.
In the middleweight division submission specialist Sotaro Yamada has been matched with ONE Warrior Series veteran Gunther Kalunda. At welterweight Yoshitomo Inoue goes up against Taira Uehara.
Also on the card are featherweight bouts pitting Hayato Ishii with Yoshizumi Kobayashi and Tsubasa Saito against Takumi Arai. Meanwhile Yusuke Kamata takes on Yuto Sekiguchi in a bantamweight bout.
