Yuki Kawana will be defending his lightweight title at Shooto 0923. The champion returns after an unsuccessful stint with Rizin to take on challenger Yamato Nishikawa.

Kawana (16-6-5) is coming off back to back decision losses at Rizin 24 and Rizin 29. He won the lightweight title in 2017 and defended it for the first time last year, stopping Shutaro Debana at Shooto 0712.

Nishikawa (14-3-5) comes into this contest on top form. The 18 year old is riding a nine fight winning streak and has won five out of five since signing for Shooto last year.

In the bantamweight division Tatsuya Ando (11-3-1) has been matched with Hayato Ishii (16-3-3). The former will be putting his Pacific Rim title on the line.

Ando challenged for the actual bantamweight title at Shooto 0922 but fought to a draw with Ryo Okada. Ishii has not lost a fight since being finished with a flying knee by Kenta Takizawa at Pancrase 309.
