Roberto de Souza has already beaten Yusuke Yachi once. The Brazilian will be a strong favourite when they rematch at Rizin 33 on New Year’s Eve.

The lightweight title will be on the line and the challenger says he has made some big improvements since the first fight,

“Since my first fight against Souza was so one sided I know that people think I have no chance. But I’ve changed every aspect of my training environment and I am a totally different fighter now.”

Good luck

He earned the fight with back to back wins. Yachi’s title hopes have also been boosted by the de facto ban on foreign fighters with the likes of Johnny Case and Tofiq Musaev unable to enter Japan.

Yachi knows he is fortunate to be getting a shot at the champion. But the Japanese veteran is determined to make the most of his good luck,

“I know that this title fight fell right into my lap but I will capitalize on this opportunity. You can count on me.”
