Alyse Anderson is coming off a disappointing defeat at the hands of Stamp Fairtex. The American trained really hard for that fight and even relocated to Denver to prepare for it.

With an interim atomweight title shot on the line the stakes were high and Anderson did everything she could. The 28 year old spent several weeks training with former UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas in the buildup.

But nothing could have prepared her for the body kick which Stamp Fairtex landed in the second round. It connected cleanly with Anderson’s liver and there was no way back for the American.

With a title shot on the line it was a real setback for Anderson who has stayed off social media in the aftermath. But earlier today she posted an update on Instagram telling her followers that she was enjoying ‘an endless summer’:

Career crossroads

That loss leaves Anderson with a record of 6-3. But she only has one win from her three ONE Championship outings and appears to be at something of a career crossroads.

The American clearly takes her training very seriously. She relocated to Florida in order to train at American Top Team which is home to reigning ONE Championship flyweight champion Adriano Moraes among others.

Ahead of her last fight she also spent time with Namajunas and Pat Barry in Denver. But she has come up short against ONE Championship stars like Itsuki Hirata and Stamp.

Main strength

She does have a submission win over Asha Roka on her ONE Championship record. Anderson was awarded her BJJ purple belt earlier this year and her main strength is her ground game.

Stamp earned a fight with Seo Hee Ham with her victory over Anderson at ONE Fight Night 10. That interim atomweight title fight looks likely to take place in August.

Angela Lee looks unlikely to return. Meanwhile #4 ranked Alyona Rassohyna heavily pregnant and #5 ranked Tiffany Teo is unlikely to be allowed to fight at atomweight again so Anderson could potentially crack the top five with just one win.

Denice Zamboanga is in the mix at atomweight while we have seen several fighters at the weight impress at ONE Friday Fights. Hirata also appears to have finally put her well publicized issues making weight behind her.

So there are lots of opponents out there for Anderson and plenty of potential fights in the future. But for the time being the 28 year old is happy to enjoy ‘an endless summer’.
