Alyse Anderson is facing the #1 ranked atomweight at ONE Fight Night 10. But the American sounds supremely confident and thinks she knows exactly how the fight with Stamp Fairtex will end.

“I definitely see me getting the submission. I can’t give you a round, but I’ll just say I will win through a submission.”

Anderson is not currently ranked but knows that she can establish herself as the top contender in the division with a win in Colorado on May 5th. For this reason she did not hesitate to accept what looks to be a dangerous assignment,

“I said yes right away. It’s a great opportunity. What better way to get in the rankings and to climb the rankings than to beat number one? It’s the best opportunity that you can get.”

Tough matchup

Anderson, who was at UFC 285 last weekend, has one win from her two ONE Championship fights. By contrast Stamp has competed for the promotion seven times and held the atomweight kickboxing and Muay Thai titles as well as winning the MMA Grand Prix.

Anderson thinks she has it all to prove when she goes up against one of the biggest names in the division and wants to put herself on the map by beating Stamp,

“I just think that a lot of people in general, because I don’t have the experience yet, are just thinking that it’s going to be an easy win. But that’s why I’m looking forward to proving myself with this tough matchup.”

Familiar faces

But while the American knows that she isn’t as familiar a face to fight fans as some of Stamp’s former opponents like Ritu Phogat and Angela Lee she doesn’t think her opponent will be taking her lightly,

“I don’t know Stamp personally, but from what I see, it looks like she trains hard for every fight. So I don’t think that she’s underestimating me.”

Stamp submitted Phogat in the final of the atomweight Grand Prix. But if Anderson can get the fight to the ground she expects to hold the advantage there,

“I think that I am most comfortable as a grappler, which is why I like this matchup. Because Stamp is a world-class kickboxer, but she does have holes in MMA, I see them in her grappling.”

Biggest hole

Angela Lee is the only fighter to ever clearly submit Stamp. She tapped out t0 Alyona Rassohyna after apparently getting confused about whether or not the round had ended.

But Anderson feels grappling is ‘a hole’ in her opponent’s game and it is one she intends to expose at ONE Fight Night 10,

“Honestly, that’s where I see her biggest hole. So that’s where I see myself taking the fight and taking advantage. I’m not concerned about her level of grappling.”

Anderson warns that she is stronger than she looks. If she can get Stamp to the ground then the 28 year old thinks her opponent is in for an unpleasant surprise,

“I feel like I’ll be a lot stronger than she thinks, just because I don’t look as strong as I am. But grappling-wise, she will feel a big strength difference.”
