Angela Lee has been out of action for a while, she has been busy giving birth to her daughter. But the champion will be back and she is already eyeing up a new title.
Lee will defend her atomweight belt against the winner of the Grand Prix which got underway at ONE: ‘Empower’ last week. But after that she plans to move up a division and challenge for the strawweight strap,
“After I face the winner of this Grand Prix, I’m going to move up to the strawweight division and whoever is the champion at that time, I’m hoping to challenge them and that’s one of my goals, to capture that strawweight belt.”
Lee is coming off back to back losses as a strawweight. She came up short against both Xiong Jing Nan and Michelle Nicolini in her recent fights in the division.
But she remains the undisputed atomweight queen. There are four fighters still in contention to snatch her crown including former Road FC and Rizin champion Seo Hee Ham.
Ham, Ritu Phogat, Stamp Fairtex and Itsuki Hirata are the Grand Prix semi finalists. Only one of these four fighters can win the tournament and earn the right to challenge the champion.
As for Lee? She is so confident of defending her belt that she is already thinking of moving up a division to challenge for another one.
