Anissa Meksen has broken her silence. ONE Championship officials seemed mystified when she failed to show up at the weigh ins yesterday ahead of her mixed rules fight with Stamp Fairtex.
But the French fighter took to Instagram to explain that her absence was due to ‘a family problem’:

Family problem
In the Instagram post Meksen states that her location is Phuket which suggests she never even travelled to Bangkok for ONE Fight Night 6. She writes in French but it can be translated as:
The fight will not go ahead. I want to clarify the situation because there has been a lot of speculation. I’m not sick everything is fine for me, and I was not overweight either. I have a family problem.
Meksen was set to face Stamp in a mixed rules fight. The rules would alternate between MMA and Muay Thai with the French fighter having never previously competed in the former sport.
She points out that this is she first time in her career she has decided not to turn up to a fight because of a ‘family problem’,
First time it happens to me in 23 years of career. I have always been pro, never missed a weigh-in. Injured, sick, nothing stops me but unfortunately I had no choice

Last minute
It leaves ONE Championship scrambling to find a last minute replacement willing to face Stamp in a mixed rules fight. At the time of writing no announcement has been made.
Chatri Sityodtong did announce on Wednesday that Meksen and Stamp would be facing off in an interim atomweight kickboxing title fight next month. The French fighter seems confident that no showing this event won’t stop her getting that long awaited title shot,
My apologies to Stamp Fairtex. Title shot next.
It will be interesting to see if Meksen’s relationship with the promotion has been damaged by her kate withdrawal. She certainly seems to think it will be a case of business as usual.
