AFC 11: ‘Challenge For New Champions’ is set for April 8th at Sindorim Techno Mart in Seoul and welterweight champion Bae Myung-Ho has been surprisingly added to the stacked lineup.
A few weeks back, the organization revealed that it would be introducing an interim welterweight title at the next event while Bae (17-5-1) recovered from a serious back injury that pulled him from AFC 10 earlier this year.
Well, there will be no need for that.
Dedication to rehabilitation seemed to have allowed the Team MAD representative to return faster than expected to face Brazilian finishing machine Jonas Boeno (38-11) in the headliner.
Boeno has been handed a title shot in his promotional debut. The 35-year-old has competed for most of his career in Brazil under a multitude of regional organizations, most notably Aspera FC where he had most of his success. He comes into this bout on the back of an eight fight winning streak.
All of Bae’s recent opponents have been subpar to put it kindly but it seems that AFC has sought out a formidable foe in Boeno for the welterweight crown.
As previously announced, the other title fights will have Moon Gi-Bum defending his featherweight strap for the third time against hotshot contender Lee Do-Gyeom and Lim Jun-Soo will challenge newly-minted openweight king Giacomo Lemos.
