Christian Lee knows when he wants to fight next and he knows who he wants to fight. The two division ONE Championship title holder wants to defend his lightweight belt against Saygid Izagakhmaev in Colorado.

ONE on Prime Video 10 is set for the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado on May 5th. Lee wants to be on that card and thinks a lightweight title fight with Izagakhmaev fits the bill.

“Man, if I’m on that card, my plan was to defend my lightweight belt, so I’ll do it against Saygid. I’m sure that I’ve heard he wants the title shot. I’m sure he’d be more than willing to take that fight. Doesn’t matter who they throw at me, but in my mind I see that as the next fight.”

Multiple nationalities

Lee probably considers himself Hawaiian although he would also be eligible to represent Canada, Korea and Singapore. He holds an American passport and thinks ONE Championship would be ‘smart’ to put him on the card,

“It’s exciting. I’m so glad that ONE Championship is finally coming to the US. You know, just anyone flying the US flag would be smart to put on that card.”

Demetrious Johnson will be defending his flyweight title against Adriano Moraes in the main event. Lee hopes he will be competing alongside the UFC veteran,

“It could only make sense to put the US fighters on that card, the first time they’re touching ground in the US. They have a lot of guys on the roster, so of course DJ’s a big one. He’s going to be headlining the event.”

Two titles

Of course Lee also has a welterweight title to defend. The event is nearly five months away so there is plenty of time for a clear contender to emerge in that division.

He clearly wants to be defending his lightweight title against Izagakhmaev at ONE on Prime Video 10. But Lee says he will be ready for absolutely anything,

“For me, I try not to play matchmaker too much. I just go in there and do my job, so whoever they throw at me, I’m ready.”
