Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke has announced his retirement. The inaugural ONE Championship strawweight champion declared on Instagram that las Friday’s fight would be his last.

The Thai lost to Danial Williams at ONE: ‘Bad Blood’ last week and decided to hang up his gloves:

The 43 year old states that he has been fighting since he was a child and that, while his heart is still strong, his body isn’t up to it anymore. Dejdamrong also mentions that it is difficult to combine his fighting career with his coaching commitments at Evolve MMA.

Dejdamrong was a three division Lumpinee champion who made his MMA debut in 2014, four years after having retired from Muay Thai. He won his first six ONE Championship fights, capturing the inaugural strawweight title in the process.

With just four wins in his last nine fights Dejdamrong obviously felt he could no longer compete at the top level. He retires with a record of 12-7 and will be remembered as the first fighter to ever hold the ONE Championship strawweight belt.
