The Korean got the nod by way of split decision despite doing very little during the fight. Zamboanga, who landed several takedowns, says the decision left her speechless,
“I don’t know what to say. I am speechless. I can’t accept that I lost. I clearly won the fight.”
Although Zamboanga didn’t do much damage she feels she was in complete control throughout the fight,
“I had the control. I’m disappointed with the judges.”
Zamboanga was visibly upset and broke down in tears as she told the media,
“If they can review the fight that would be great. She didn’t do anything I had the control, I still can’t believe it.”
The Filipina sounded absolutely devastated. She had already been promised a shot at champion Angela Lee but this has been put on hold while the Grand Prix gets underway.
She is hoping for a rematch with the Korean but it remains to be seen whether ONE Championship will review the result and look at reinstating her in the Grand Prix. Zamboanga did thank the Filipino fans for their support and hopes that someone from the promotion will reach out to discuss the judge’s decision.
