The inaugural GAMMA World Championships are set for Singapore in November. Teams from over 60 countries have been invited to participate.

The amateur tournament will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium from November 18th-23rd. In total there will be 16 weight categories for female and male fighters.

At the end of the tournament the ‘top’ fighters will earn a contract with ONE Championship worth USD $100,000 each according to the press release. Each winner will also be offered a one year training scholarship at Evolve MMA.

Alexander Engelhardt, President of GAMMA, stated,

“On behalf of GAMMA, I would like to thank ONE Championship for their continued support and commitment to the sport of mixed martial arts and our cause of preparing it for entry into the Olympics. The GAMMA World Championship is held with the aim of developing a sustainable career for all mixed martial artists. We look forward to a display of the world’s biggest and brightest young mixed martial arts talent here in Singapore.”

GAMMA is based in Amsterdam and was founded last year. The organization’s stated objective is to obtain international recognition for mixed martial arts as an Olympic sport.
