At the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines she claimed gold in the women’s kickboxing <55kgs category. Iniong is also coming off back to back wins in her MMA career but has not fought since 2020.

The 32 year old missed out on the atomweight Grand Prix and has dropped out of the ONE Championship rankings. But she is back in training at Team Lakay and could be set to return to MMA competition once the 2022 SEA Games is out of the way.

The team representing the Philippines in kickboxing prepares to travel to Hanoi for the 2022 SEA Games

Familiar faces

She will be travelling to Vietnam with some familiar faces. Mark Sangiao is heading up the kickboxing team and among the Team Lakay representatives on it is former ONE Championship featherweight champion Honorio Banario.

Angela Lee recently made headlines when she returned from a two year absence in which she had her first child. The atomweight champion successfully defended her belt by beating Stamp Fairtex at ONE: ‘X’.

With three wins from her last four ONE Championship fights Iniong would definitely be in the title picture if she made a successful comeback. The 32 year old is clearly back in training and hoping to win a gold medal at the SEA Games for the second time in the space of just three years.

Once she had finished representing her country as a kickboxer in Vietnam perhaps we will see Iniong back inside the ONE Championship cage.
