Japanese-based promotion Real FC held a press conference at the New Hilltop Hotel earlier this month and announced ‘Arzalet 5 x Club Octagon’ on March 23rd in Seoul, South Korea.
The event will be headlined by the first fight of a Heavyweight Grand Prix between Zhanybek Amatov (4-9) and Carlos Toyota (8-10-1).
Amatov is a Fight Night Global and M-1 veteran. The Kyrgyzstan native, however, has been on quite a hiatus from the sport as of late. He was last seen competing in late 2016 at Jash-Kuch Fighting Championship where he lost to Miras Shantasov. Amatov has been victorious in 3 of his last 5 outings.
His adversary, Toyota, is a weathered journeyman and represents Hard Combat in Shizuoka, Japan. Throughout the years, he has been contracted by a variety of Japanese organizations such as DEEP and Rizin FF with mixed results.
The highlight of his career came when he flatlined South Korean giant Choi Hong-Man at Road FC 24 which subsequently led to a title shot against Mighty Mo which turned out to be unfruitful. The Brazilian comes into this contest on a three-fight losing skid.
Outside of the main event, one name stands out from the rest which is Marcos Souza (7-1). The accomplished jiu-jitsu practitioner started off his career with seven straight wins but recently had his first setback at World Ertaymash Federation last November. He will take on 14-fight Road FC veteran Lee Hyung-Seok in a welterweight clash.
In other news, Arzalet President Yamada also mentioned that the organization is looking to send another fighter over to Rizin FF for a future event. It seems like former featherweight title challenger Kevin Park is the frontrunner with his colorful look and flashy fighting style.
Real FC signed a partnership earlier in the year with the biggest Japanese promotion and sent over Roberto Satoshi Souza to face Satoru Kitaoka at Rizin 15 on April 21.
