ONE Fight Night 10 is just two weeks away and it sounds like Itsuki Hirata will be watching closely. The Japanese atomweight has offered a very specific prediction on a fight that has particular interest for her.

She believes that Alyse Anderson will submit Stamp Fairtex. It is a bold prediction because the Thai is ranked #1 in the division and has been promised an interim title shot if she beats the unranked American.

But Hirata, who was recently beaten by Seo Hee Ham in a title eliminator, thinks that Stamp will be unable to cope with the American’s ground game,

Alyse is going to win this fight with her ground fame. Stamp hasn’t fought enough grapplers.

Submission specialist

Hirata is something of a submission specialist herself although her last four fights have all been the distance. She beat Anderson by decision in 2021 so knows the American well and is convinced she will finish Stamp,

Anderson will get an armbar or a triangle to win by submission.

It would certainly be an upset if Anderson was to win in Broomfield. She is coming off a victory but had to come from behind to submit Asha Roka after being rocked by the Indian at ONE 157.

That was the only win of her ONE Championship career and it came at the expense of an unranked opponent coming off back to back defeats.

Two losses

Stamp does have two submission losses on her record. The first came when she got confused about the timing and tapped to a loose submission with seconds remaining in the final round because she thought the bell had sounded.

The second came at the hands of BJJ black belt Angela Lee. This could be a potential cause for confidence for Anderson who holds a purple belt herself.

But Stamp holds a submission win over Ritu Phogat who she finished with an armbar. She was also awarded her BJJ purple belt recently and, on paper at least, her submission skills are at a similar level to Anderson’s.

But Hirata is adamant that the American is the superior grappler and believes she will submit Stamp on May 5th. It will be interesting to see whether the Japanese fighter’s prediction proves correct!
