Anissa Meksen does not currently hold any titles. But there are many out there who believe she is the best female kickboxer on the planet and it seems reigning K-1 bantamweight champion Kana is one of them.

She has been competing between 110 and 115 lbs throughout her career and has established herself as one of the best at the weight. Meksen is slightly smaller and has never fought in Japan but Kana knows exactly who she is and wants to fight her.

Big fan

Kana first called for a shot at Meksen last December after winning the K-1 bantamweight (114.6lbs) title. But those comments only appear to have been translated into English this week,

My top priority is to fight Anissa (Meksen) who is fighting in ONE. To be the best, to prove that the K-1 champion and the K-1 ring are the best, I will lead female fighters.

The Japanese kickboxer might have called out Meksen a month ago but she clearly still wants the fight. Kana has been promoting the translated comments heavily on social media.

She was at ONE Fight Night 6 earlier this month and would have presumably been looking forwards to seeing Meksen fight Stamp Fairtex in a mixed rules bout. But the French fighter didnā€™t even turn up to the weigh ins so didnā€™t feature at all on that card.

While she presumably has an exclusive contract with K-1 the 30 year old appears to be a big ONE Championship fan:

Thailand trip

Kana also posted a photo of herself outside Rajadamnern Stadium in Bangkok. She has already gotten the better of one of Franceā€™s top kickboxers, stopping Souris Manfredi with a head kick last July.

Kana seemingly has her sights set on Meksen. She is not the only fan of the French fighter, speaking ahead of ONE Fight Night 6 the promotionā€™s founder and CEO Chatri Sityodtong said,

Anissa Meksen obviously is the greatest female striker on the planet.

It remains to be seen how much damage Meksen has done to her reputation by no showing her fight with Stamp Fairtex, subsequently citing a ā€˜family problemā€™. But her rivals in other promotion seem to rate her just as highly as her employer does.
