Kyoji Horiguchi has another fight booked and it is a big one. He face Patchy Mix at Bellator 279 on April 23rd in a battle between two top bantamweight contenders.
Horiguchi (29-4) was cruising to a decision win over Sergio Pettis at Bellator 272 before getting knocked out by a spinning back fist in the fourth round. It was the former Bellator and Rizin 135lbs champion’s first fight in nearly a year after leaving Japan to train at American Top Team.
Mix (15-1) challenged for the Bellator bantamweight belt in 2020, suffering the only loss of his career. The American also made an appearance at Rizin 20, submitting Yuki Motoya with a guillotine choke.
The card will be headlined by a bantamweight title fight between champion Sergio Pettis (22-5) and challenger
Raufeon Stots (17-1). Both this bout and the fight between Horiguchi and Mix will serve as quarter finals for the 135lbs Grand Prix.
