Nat Wondergirl’s second MMA fight did not go quite as well as the first. She dropped a decision to experienced Australian Lisa Kyriacou at ONE Friday Fights 26 last night.
It was always going to be an uphill struggle for Wondergirl against the reigning Hex FC flyweight champion, who was looking to make it seven wins in a row. But the Thai fighter started strongly, clipping her opponent with a left hook and a straight right in the early exchanges.
Kyriacou closed the distance and attempted a throw but Wondergirl bounced straight back up and landed some punches and elbows. The Australian immediately took her down again and secured half guard.

No doubt
Wondergirl established her guard and looked for a triangle choke or armbar. But it was Kyriacou who finished the round in top position and the momentum was with the Australian.
The remainder of the fight followed a similar pattern. Kyriacou took Wondergirl down at the start of the second stanza and kept her there until the referee stood the strawweights up with just 30 seconds remaining.
Wondergirl looked like the pace had taken its toll on her and she was instantly taken down in the final round. She looked for an armbar again and appeared to have Kyriacou in trouble at one stage but the Australian powered out and finished the fight in top position.
There was no doubt who the winner was. Kyriacou improves to 7-1 and makes it seven victories on the spin. Wondergirl drops to 1-1.

Best of the rest
In the other MMA fight on the card Brett Pastore (3-0) faced Emran Hafızoğlu (5-3) in a lightweight fight. The American ate some punches in the opening round but controlled the remainder of the action, landing jabs and low kicks to take a decision win.
