Stamp Fairtex and Loma Lookboonmee have taken very different paths to success. The former has established herself as one of the top atomweights on the ONE Championship roster while the latter competes in the UFC’s strawweight division.

They were both successful Muay Thai fighters before making the transition to MMA. But they have never trained together until now with Loma making the trip from Phuket to Pattaya to help Stamp prepare for her upcoming fight.

Size difference

It is notable that Stamp seems to be slightly bigger than Loma despite competing in a lower weight class. The UFC does not currently have an atomweight division and the Bang Tao Muay Thai representative has been forced to bulk up in order to  compete with the 115lbers on the roster.

It makes her achievement in winning five out of seven fights inside the octagon all the more remarkable. Loma is coming off the first submission win of her career at UFC 284.

Two titles

Stamp already has two submission wins to her name. The most recent came in the final of the atomweight Grand Prix when she finished Ritu Phogat with an armbar.

She has also benefitted from ONE Championship’s policy of promoting fights in multiple disciplines, winning atomweight titles in Muay Thai and kickboxing although the MMA belt has continued to elude her.

She was submitted by Angela Lee in the opening round of her title fight last year. But while Stamp is one of ONE Championship’s top atomweights Loma can’t quite crack the top 15 at strawweight despite coming off back to back wins.

Seasoned traveler

Loma does have plenty of experience when it comes to competing in the US. Stamp’s next fight is in Colorado so the UFC veteran might share some tips on traveling and competing in the west.

Meanwhile Stamp has a much bigger social media following and can probably give Loma some tips in that department. She has over 400,000 Instagram followers and is renowned for her pre fight dances.

They are two of the biggest MMA stars Thailand has produced. Under a different set of circumstances they could have ended up fighting one another but instead they have become training partners as Stamp prepares to face Alyse Anderson at ONE Fight Night 10 in May.
