Martine Michieletto has had to wait a long time to make her ONE Championship debut. The Italian is riding a 14 fight winning streak and has been on the roster for a few years.

Michieletto was slated to face Anissa Meksen in 2021 but pulled out of that fight. She will finally compete for the promotion for the first time at ONE Fight Night 11 this Saturday.

Michieletto has been matched with Amber Kitchen. The bout pits together two Muay Thai stars who are training in Europe, hailing from Italy and England respectively.

Michieletto has elected not to train for this fight in Thailand but shared some footage of her camp on Instagram:

Limited experience

The gym looks small and she appears to be the only fighter training there. But it is a method that has served the 30 year old well in her career so far and she points out that,

I’m an eight times world champion in Muay Thai and kickboxing.

The Italian has not fought in Thailand for six years. She dropped a split decision to Saifa Sor Suparat in Chiang Mai in 2016 but beat Sud Siam Sor Sumalee in the same city the following year.

Limited experience

She has limited experience of fighting in Thailand and will also be competing with MMA gloves for the first time. But Michieletto has had several years to prepare for her ONE Championship debut.

Kitchen is already a veteran of three ONE Championship fights and has been the distance every time. Her opponent might have more experience fighting under this format but Michieletto is adamant that her time has finally come,

I have been training hard for this fight. Now it’s my time.
